Cooper's teaches ecosystem
classes
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(October 2002) Danbury, CT – Lyn and Brad Cooper, owners of Cooper's of
Ridgefield/Danbury, a landscape supply firm, recently taught over 50 students
hands on design and construction of Ecosystems.
The Ecosystem classes are hands-on teaching the design and construction of a water garden while working with Mother Nature. The class starts with a discussion of location and the benefits of those various environments. Next we move to the design stage, to discuss creating the most appealing view for the owner’s life style. Then the hard work starts with digging the 24” depth through a series of 8” shelves for plants, pets and owners to enjoy and maintain. While the 180 square foot pond fills with water, students are served lunch. After lunch the class builds the water fall using a lot of stone and gravel to create a natural looking waterfall to provide the much needed oxygen for the fish as well as the most viewed part of the garden. By mid to late afternoon the pump recirculates the water thru the Biofalls filtration® down the stream to the pond which awaits both plants and fish to balance the ecosystem.
Cooper's is planning additional classes in Spring of 2003 and welcomes suggestions for prospective public or charity locations that would enjoy a balanced ecosystem water garden.
