Danbury, Connecticut – June 1, 2004
– The Waterbury Chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life has joined the Parade of Ponds fundraiser. The Relay for Life will run June 12 & 13th and is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. During this event, teams of people will gather at the Waterbury Municipal Stadium and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

The Parade of Ponds is an annual fundraiser sponsored by Cooper’s, a landscape supply company in Danbury, CT. The Parade of Ponds is a self guided tour that features over 100 water gardens. This event is being held on Saturday and Sunday, July 10th & 11th. The donation is $20 per person and an attendee receives a booklet of the locations, directions, and descriptions of the water gardens on this year’s tour. Booklets for the Parade of Ponds are available at the Waterbury Relay for Life on June 12 & 13th or by calling the Waterbury American Cancer Society at the number listed below.

“The Parade of Ponds has been benefiting local charities and we are very excited to be working with the Waterbury American Cancer Society,” says Brad Cooper of Coopers. “We saw the generosity of Cooper’s and how much this event helps other charities and decided we wanted to be a part of it. The Relay for Life is our signature event and we are very excited for the chance to generate more awareness for it,” said Raymond Komorowski of the Waterbury chapter of the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society has been added to the already impressive list of charities (Family & Children’s Aid in Shelton, Danbury, & New Milford, Green Chimney in Brewster, The Waterbury area and Western CT chapters of the American Red Cross.)

If you are interested in going on the tour, please contact Ray Komorowski, Waterbury American Cancer Society at (203) 510-6178.
